By Justin Yamashita, MSc. Benchtop, site, CRO: three levels of basic and clinical research, explained without spin.

Two ways to get fooled by a health headline

Two people read the same health headline. One believes it on the spot. One rejects it flat. They can both be wrong.

Being a good skeptic isn't about doubting everything. It's about having balance. Being open enough to be convinced by good evidence, but sharp enough not to be fooled by a bad claim. Most of us lean one way without knowing it.

So, I built something to show you which way you lean.

Find your Skeptic Type

A quick quiz. Six types, no signup, no right answers. It's honest about what it is: a self-portrait to think with, not a personality test. The ideas under it come from real research on how people reason, and I show the sources. You get your type, plus your best next step.

Two games while you're there

If the quiz is the mirror, these are the practice. Both are free, both play right in your browser, and both run on the same toolkit.

Play them: Stay in the Room and Got Skepticism?

Stay in the Room. See how easy it is to get pushed out of a good conversation, and how to stay in it.

Got Skepticism? Tell a strong claim from a weak one, one headline at a time. To practice for once you’ve helped someone be OPEN to a conversation, and how to get that talk right.

Then tell me what you got

Reply to this email with your type or your Skeptic Score. I read every one. And if someone you know keeps falling for the same bad headlines, send them the quiz and the games. That's the whole point. Not to hand you a label, but to hand you a mirror.

I've spent years around how medicine actually gets tested, at the bench, at the site, and inside a global research organization. Root to Rx is where I hand that view back to you in plain language.

Got Skepticism?, Stay in the Room, and the new Skeptic Type quiz all live at openlabelmedia.com.
